About KALAMANDALAM LEKHA
A renowned dancer, choreographer, and teacher par excellence
An alumna of an immortal name of the cultural map of the world KERALA KALAMANDALAM, Lekha started her career as dance teacher at the Academy of Indian Dance, Mumbai. She spent the next 5 years with the Academy and was heading the department of Classical Dance when she relocated to Kochi.
In Kochi Lekha commenced enthralling audiences with her captivating stage performances and continues to do so even today. In 2011, she returned to her true passion of teaching when she founded "Noopuradhwani", a school for Indian Classical Dance for students of Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattam and Kuchipudi. Convinced that age is just a number, and no one is too old to learn and ever willing to take up a challenge, Lekha encourages students 5 years and upwards to ‘Learn to dance with Kalamandalam Lekha’ and imbibe the spirit of her motto – DANCING IS DREAMING WITH YOUR FEET.
A much sought-after performer and choreographer Kalamandalam Lekha and her students are a constant fixture of any cultural stage in Kochi. Lekha’s daughter Aiswariya is a budding dancer.
